Let’s start in a chronological order – with the medieval foundations revealed only when the Louvre Pyramid was built.
We’ll admire the 4,000 year-old Sphinx before paying a tribute to the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory and the Mona Lisa – 3 ladies with beguiling history I will pass on to you.
The visit resumes in the Denon Gallery and the French paintings with a stop at the Islamic Arts Gallery, opened few months ago.
We will head to the Richelieu wing, the last of the three wings totally remodelled after the construction of the pyramid – a new museum by itself: among unique artworks are the best 17th monumental French sculptures and the former drawing rooms of the Second Empire (Napoleon 3rd).
Should you have any special requests, please advise prior to the tour. I would be delighted to address any specific artefacts you would like to explore. Thank you.
